SunBet Income Rises 35.5% as Online Gaming Drives Growth

SunBet brought in R1.184 billion during the first six months of 2026, up from R874 million a year earlier. Parent company Sun International released the results on 7 September. The figures include SunBet’s South African and other African operations.

The detail that caught our attention was the gap between its two main product areas. Online gaming gross gambling revenue grew by 43.2%, while sports betting recorded growth of 10.9%. Both increased, but online gaming was clearly doing more of the heavy lifting.

These figures come from Sun International’s interim results presentation, which also outlines changes to the SunBet platform.

A New Interface for South African Players

Sun International says SunBet’s refreshed interface is now live in South Africa and Botswana. It is the first part of the platform to use the company’s own internally developed technology.

That is the part existing customers may notice more than the financial results. A redesign can make a difference when you are trying to find a game on your phone or check something in your account. Much depends on whether the everyday details have improved along with the appearance.

We have not tested the updated interface ourselves. Before giving it a positive review, we would want to see how easy it is to find withdrawal conditions, reach support and change account limits. Those checks tell us more than a polished homepage.

What Should Players Take From the Results?

There is a limit to what these numbers can tell someone choosing where to play. They do not establish how quickly SunBet processes withdrawals or how well its support team handles a disputed payment. That requires a separate review.

For us, the interface update is the more interesting follow-up to this story. Putting withdrawal information where people can find it, explaining verification requirements clearly and making account controls accessible would all be useful improvements. The results announcement alone does not show whether those things have changed.

SunBet has reported a strong first half. A closer look at the updated platform would help establish what, if anything, has improved for the people using it.
